In Cameroon, the apparitions of Mary multiply, but doesn't really convince the Church

The Catholic Church continues to take news of the apparitions of the Virgin Mary with caution.

In Cameroon, the last apparition of Mary, mother of Jesus, was reported at the Saint Michael Parish of Nden, Sangmelima, on June 18th. A mother and her son reported having witnessed a phenomenon similar to a full moon. Nothing surprising except that the scene took place during the day. Many people later claimed to have seen the Virgin Mary in these places.

Crowds of people converged in Nden after news of this apparition spread throughout the country. The local authorities of the Catholic Church are cautious about all this.

"The Church, as far as it is concerned, always keeps a certain prudence, always takes a certain time of discernment in order to observe," explained the priest of Nden in an interview published in the public press on July 2, 2018.

The Catholic Church then takes a moment of observation before being convinced of the authenticity of the apparition of Mary. Only this time is not determined. According to the Metropolitan Archbishop, the difficulty is that the supposed witnesses of these phenomena do not always bring all the proofs to authenticate them, as for example the medical files made before and after the miracle.

In Cameroon, apparitions have been reported in Nsimalen (1986) and Mvolye, among others. These neighborhoods are home to sanctuaries in honor of Mary and are places of pilgrimage for the faithful Catholics. The Catholic Church organizes special Masses, promoting the faith of the faithful to the apparitions of Mary and the sanctity of places concerned by this phenomenon. She herself gives only a look full of doubts.

"We have erected a Marian cave which shows that the Church has taken seriously the testimonies received and the faith of the faithful. The church believes that God continues to work miracles and that the Virgin Mary obtains extraordinary gifts from Christ. But to give authenticity it must be proved. I continue to tell Christians that the recognition of the church will one day follow. But what is important is the personal connection with God in Christ through the intercession of the Virgin Mary.
